My best (and optimistic) guess as to the confusing chain of events is still that Minerva IS Minmetals, they are in the process of brokering a sale deal (maybe to Chifeng). The 17% stake is their payoff, where the TO price will be somewhere north of 53c so they pocket the difference and between the Chifeng, Minerva, D'Anna and other insiders they have over 50% to ensure the TO goes through. Because Minerva don't have to pay for their shares til December, hopefully the TO will be concluded by then and the steady hands who held firm get a nice Christmas pressie
