If you understand the patent process and have followed previous announcements from PAR, you would know this was completely unnecessary and avoidable had the analyst at Morgans just did their work properly.

As has been pointed out before, the key patent is still there for BME which is present in basically serious cases of OA. Additional work is being undertaken to expand the ip portfoli which could add value, but is not a critical do or die kind of thing for PAR.

Many many many other companies in the industry are continually filing a bunch of applications that are discontinued and expired, rejected etc but is never even mentioned to the market because it is just BAU work with nothing worth saying because it is just in the process.
