You're wrong - it's you that hasn't addressed the underhanded and i would argue self-serving timing (for Verner) of this announcement. Nor commented Verner's poor decision to put Vidalia production at the mercy of Tesla (as you rightly pointed out is controlled by a muppet) until potentially 2027.
Musk clearly has self-interest at heart and could easily do deals with his Chinese AAM suppliers to help quash any western AAM production for ongoing sweetheart deals on prices. That could include holding out on Vidalia production. After all SYR is the biggest western threat to Chinese produced AAM atm Tesla also have the rights to majority of the Vidalia expansion if/when that ever occurs. Do you reckon there will be the capital available for other ex-China producers if Syr as one, if not the lead contender falls over?? Musk has the ear of Trump and Trump would happily do anything for a few bucks in his back pocket even if it meant going against Americas best interests.
So yeah Verner's made a poor strategic call here and risked SYR on Tesla, besides following a company plan set well in motion before he became CEO and raising some cash he's done nothing special. You haven't articulated any case to back your fandom of him. I've acknowledged SYR has had a poor price environment to contend with for a number of years, but that's not to say another CEO wouldn't have managed the company better.
