I had a hazy notion that clearing browser history may do the trick, but in that specific instance, I thought that I would learn nothing that was significant, so I did not bother to pursue the matter. For other reasons, I cleared my browsing history yesterday.
When I was interested to know what was, or is still, behind the SP decline, I decided that the best candidate was that one or more funds wanted out, and that this impacted CCP, which typically has about 200,000 shares transacted per trading day, so if somebody wanted to sell a million shares over ten trading days, it would, in the absence of increased buying interest, depress the SP. A shareholder would have to have control of about 3.5 million shares to be forced to report its tansactions, so we may never see who the selling party is.
That 200,000 is an average, but if one excluded trading days above 300,000, which happened on 33 of the 254 trading days up to 09/03/21, the average drops to about 140,000 per trading day for the other 221 trading days.
As I am in no mind to sell my major CCP holding (in my SMSF), nor increase it, the SP's ups and downs are of little interest. That said, I dabble in my own name on a small scale, and for that reason short-term SP movements are of interest, but not of concern.
