Interesting that they are looking at lymph node metastases in established HER2 breast cancer. Nothing else can give you that information at the moment. The alternative is doing a sentinel lymph node biopsy at the time of mastectomy/wide local excision and then going back for an axillary clearance if it’s positive. Knowing that the lymph nodes are positive before the first surgery would cut out the need for a second surgery completely in some cases! Just do a mastectomy and lymph node clearance from the start. Total game changer.

I wonder which sites they’ll team up with for the study? Would be great to see some big cancer centres like Peter Mac get on board.
