    I imagine there is a strong possibility that some participants would have a wound that gets bigger (either in the treatment or placebo, but hopefully on the placebo . As the rate of healing of those that do respond probably decreases over time (as some heal completely or get close). At this point those whose wounds are getting bigger could start to shift the overall average...?

    Just a guess.
