They won't get their fill if they try to hit the closing auction on the rebalance day.
Assuming it comes it on the 200 at slightly higher weight than in the 300 then it'll be around 10bps. I-shares has $1.2B in their ASX200 ETF, Spider is $3.8B, Vanguard has over $4B against the 200. So call it an even $10B, at 10bps those funds will be buying $10M worth of shares, or roughly 260,000 shares - more than 50% above the average daily volume.
Most of them will start buying in one or two days ahead of the rebalance, and will likely still be buying a few days after - unless some big active insto decides to dump around then.
