'The proposed project contract provides for the JV company to be paid a service fee of 1RMB per tonne of water treated, subject to a minimum payment for 9,000 tonnes per day.'

1RMB is the equivalent of 20c AUD, so a minimum of 9,000 tonnes per day equals $1800AUD a day or $657,000AUD a year or $13.14m AUD over the 20 year period. If the maximum of 13,000 tonnes per day was treated the daily amount would be $2600 a day or $949,000 a year or $18,98m AUD over the 20 year project. The figures are for the JV so halve them for CLQ. They're not bad for a single plant.

'This will be the first commercial scale plant built in the world using Continuous Ionic Filtration (CIF) to upgrade treated effluent to surface water discharge quality.'

' The plant will serve as a demonstration site to showcase the technology and its application to resolving some of the world's most pressing water problems.'

The significance of the two bolded passages above cannot be overstated as this will really put CLQ well and truly on the map globally not to mention on the radar of some of the world's biggest companies in the water space. The opportunities should flow broad and fast once this first project gets up and running.

'The project at the Qixian facility is an important milestone for Clean TeQ as it represents the first commercial application of the CIF technology for upgrading treated effluent. Treated effluent can be a valuable source of fresh water if contaminants are reduced to meet appropriate standards. Western countries have typically adopted membrane technology to meet these standards, but at a cost which is not sustainable in the Chinese market.'

Another huge point to consider. CLQ have the market to themselves and it just so happens to be the world's most populous country, the world's second largest economy, and the world's most polluted country with amongst the greatest scarcity of freshwater on the planet.

'China has a severe water scarcity problem. Its resources of freshwater, around 2,000 cubic metres per capita, are one-third the global average.  About 300 million people in China, almost a quarter of its population drink contaminated water every day. At least one-third of China's lakes and rivers are unfit for human use, and 73% of the watersheds that supply water to China's 30 fastest growing cities face medium to high pollution levels.'

As if we needed any reminding of just how big the market opportunities are in China for CLQ with their world-first technology with first-mover advantage at a price point that other Western companies can't match.

Things are looking better and better going forward for CLQ with its water business and then when you add the scandium to that, there is plenty of upside for shareholders going forward. I, for one, am not going anywhere.
