The Liberal’s policy on nuclear power is a cop-out and just more appeasement to the destructive gods of NET ZEROHowever, yes Australia should lift the ban on nuclear power (something I’ve be arguing for for years) - the Libs are right in this. And yes, we should start research into building Small Modular Nuclear Reactors - for they are still in development.But we’ve simply run out of time for nuclear to replace our existing coal fleet‘s planned closures. We can‘t wait for 20+ years for nuclear to come on-line. We need to be urgently building new coal fired power stations NOW to replace the ones already closed and those due to close over the next 25 years. But the Liberals are too weak to say what’s needed, for they don‘t want to upset the climate zealots. And Labor’s plan to try and replace coal with "big batteries" charged by Chinese solar panels & floating off shore wind turbines anchored to the seabed with cables (a technology not yet proven) is economic and environmental madness. A sensible policy would be to immediately start on new modern coal-fired power stations so they can be turned on as the old ones are turned off - while at the same time we research & develop nuclear power for possible deployment mid-century.
