I agree, I think in Australia the days of coal being used for power generation are becoming numbered. The purpose of these demonstrations are to find commercial purpose for the abundant supply of lignite we have in Victoria. In ECT's words, to create the ideal feedstock for high-value downstream applications including char, syngas, fertiliser and hydrogen. Anything to help the Latrobe valley would be welcomed by the locals and government if they can come up with the mix. The remaining power stations look like they will gone in the next couple of decades.
