    Initially the water is too muddy for re-use in the WCP, though it may settle quickly? The cost of pumping it out of old pits prematurely instead of water just draining away is one issue. The risk to vegetation from rising water table next to pit is another, and if they kill off any vegetation from water mounding against their license then they kill off any chance of that Amy North mine extension. The mine life extension north area was excluded from the original mine lease pending a review of how well the water mounding issue was managed during the life of Amy Sth mine. Explains why they are so reticent to risk water mounding too close to surface, but not why they were so late in recognising the key risk of water mounding to operations and long term right to mine...

    At least summer will bring much increased evaporation rates to help with water removal from in pit tailings
