The term "stick" is a simplistic way of describing how the target chemical is sensed by the cantilever.
Nothing gets stuck and nothing needs cleaning. LumiMEMS is an array of cantilever semiconductors on one chip.
Easy analogy would be to think of a smoke detector. the detector would only trigger in the presence of smoke particles.
After they have gone, it is basically reset.
