Nearly 500,000 battery cells into trucks over the next 2 years.
Given LIS is heading towards the EV car market, this is a great surprise. It shows us that the LIS battery is coming for heavy industry as well. The light weight multi power advantage is starting to sink in. This will be just the start with others to follow imo. Other major manufacturers will be able to make this under license. LIS doesn't have to build Giga plants. They already exist.
This should attract other truck companies. I am looking for LIS to get a foothold in every major battery segment out there.
Trucks, EV's, Aircraft, wearables, phones, tablets etc. This first deal is a serious collaboration and validates the tech.
The pilot plant must be coming online quick smart to feed these trucks. It will also allow them to pump out a lot more samples for these other industries. They can clearly make working samples now, but this will help break open a lot of companies to retrofit the battery into next year.
These big transport majors like TOLL and Fox seem like obvious customers down the track. Why wouldn't companies like them want this power and convenience of swap out batteries for deliverers! They will want power, rechargeability, cycle life, weight advantages and range.
LIS will charge more and provide them with an advantage.
