The 10 year outlook is to see quantum advantage fully deployed end to end in applications. Meanwhile there are quite a few milestones which will be game changers if not complete quantum leaps. -
- quantum processors that give classical computers a 'quantum boost' by clever time saving algorithms that are only possible using quantum states. If anyone has looked into the Hadamard gate for superposition, you know what I'm saying.
- quantum processors that integrate with the cloud and take some of the processing load, again with more efficient qubit gates programming.
- quantum processors that can be used at the source of the data like a camera or microphone and can do image analysis and language recognition. Edge computing with a qubit processor.
The value proposition here is a clear saving of time and computing resources. Value adds will come with more qubit configuration chips and more powerful algorithms. And the main draw of quantum computing for science and humanity in general is to replace the linear programming model of classical computing with more powerful and elegant solutions. A paradigm shift. AXE can play a role in all of these steps to quantum advantage, plus more besides that is beyond what I can see of course.
