This MANAGER STYLE format for the MLB games will probably be similar for the MotoGP and the STRYKER FANTASY FOOTBALL collectible games going forward !
It looks like the MLB game is establishing a secondary market for the minted DIGITAL COLLECTIBLE bobble head dolls as being indicated by the prices being paid for some of items! So people buy the minted originals from MLBC , and then resell them for a higher price as the market will bear! This is a very good indication that collectible digital scarcity works, even within a game that may have minimal playability or appeal at this time!
They also mention that they are tweaking the game format again by rewarding the players with a rewards point system that can be used for buying additional digital collectibles .
These types of games will probably be continually morphing until they find a suitable model that players find interesting and the Company sees profitability!
Really great that they are testing the market prior to Animoca distributing the MLB game to the Asian market likely for the 2020 season.
Curious about the NBA deal that DAPPER LABS announced with the NBA for a similarly licensed game and if they will allow ANIMOCA the distribution rights for the Asian market! They love these NBA stars in Asia!
