Hi jhaas. Thanks for the info. Yes i did realise the distinction between the trials and the implied purpose of each trial. UTSA flow batteries, ACT as per the renew economy article, lithium ion. It was throught the battery research trial web page that I contacted John. Below is his response to my question of expanding the trial.

"Yes we are cycling the batteries 3 times a day and we're hoping to see some capacity fade data by the time our first six monthly report is released as that will be representative of around a year and a half of daily cycling.

We are considering adding further battery technologies to the trial down the track but at this stage the initial 8 batteries are all that we are testing.
