    Probably not demagnetisation of the mafics/ultramafics as that would imply large volumes of hydrothermal alteration, which isn't likely with the pegmatites. Doesn't preclude larger volume of pegmatites resulting in a diminished magnetic response. I think that is what MXR mean.
