I think you are spot on there Kens, this appears to be more than a simple short and distort attack. I noted the huge number of 25 share trades being posted on both sides of the ledger on Friday, and the intent seemed to be fairly clear that they were there to manipulate the price down.
Also another poster here put up a link to a Reddit page where someone had dug a little deeper into Culper and found it was a lot more than a one man crusader venture against supposedly dishonest companies. It appears there are other companies behind Culper the owners of which don’t want their identities known.
My personal take on this is that Christian L has put his arse up for sale to anyone that wants to run a short and distort attack on a company and the NEU price action seems to indicate that NEU was as much a target as Acadia.
Someone also mentioned the lack of posted short positions as being confusing. But really, it’s voluntary and the data is stale.(do you really think a short and distort criminal would telegraph his intent, days before making the hit)
The only alternative to this I can think of is that local shorters saw the Culper report and decided to seize the moment for themselves. Cheers
