Even though NEU was hammered as collateral damage of the Culper report, I can't get my mind around NEU being the resultant target.
The Aussie market generally is too small for US players to even bother dipping their toes in, let alone a stock as illiquid (relatively) as NEU.
From the numbers you posted, it's likely there was a ACAD short built over a period, then outsized prior to the release of the Culper report.
If they're any good at their game, they'd have covered on the large volume spike and -8% drop following report release.
They are likely (IMO) onto their next target by now and won't give ACAD a second thought I'm afraid. Chalk up a small win for them and try again elsewhere.
