According to todays AFR, FLT short sales are currently at 1.2m shares. There are only 100m FLT shares on issue and if you take out the major shareholders that hold a combined 74m shares (according to e trade) that leaves only 26m shares to go around for the rest of us.
So approx 5% of liquid stock is short. The last time I shorted a stock was in the 1987 crash so maybe I don't understand the game anymore but that seems a very high percentage to me.
I would appreciate some thoughts on this from fellow holders.
