Hey folk's - great to see the same ' Ole ' AUZ crew are safe and well during this crisis - and hopefully you all can stay that way while you enjoy the recent near doubling in the SP to back over the crucial and psychological 1 cent price level. Not an easy task sometimes once it capitulates to below these sorts of levels. Per my last post , I had decided to hang in with AUZ - so am extremely pleases with the recent announcement re: their push towards ' Carbon Neutral accreditation's .

And I don't think you can just dismiss this off as the sole reasons behing this approximate $20 million of increased value reflected by this recent rise in the SP. After all one can easily see the significant parallel's in value recognition from the ' Marketing ' other ' similar programs like ' Australian Made ' and ' Buy Australian ' ....or even Austrade ' Exporter Awards programs.

This is significant people - and all you need to do is cast your eye's over what the Climate Active Program is all about , and who are currently included in some of the vast list of participating and founding members. Once you do you will see that 3 of the four Australian Banks being ANZ , NAB, and Westpac are involved as well as Melior Investments as well as as a host of well respected other medium to large Australian Corporation's .

So I guess you can read all this ......or you could just see that their ( AUZ 'S ) numbers quoted per tonne of carbon across this member group of companies as has been translated to vehicle numbers taken ' off the road ' seems quite conservative really.

Wasn't it 3 million cars ......and then 6 million equivalent EV's provided directly from the SCONI EV minerals taken over the extended life of mine. So lets say that equates to 3 million vehicles take directly off the road as a result of the SCONI ' prescribed ' project. In that scenario , and based on the Based on the generally accepted notion that a ' typical ' passenger vehicle represents approximately 4.6 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per year - that would then be an approximate 13.8 million tonnes or then under the program 13.8 carbon credits.

Now notwithstanding the fact that Australia doesn't currently have a ' Carbon Credits ' trading scheme - that's not to say that other prominent Countries including Canada and others do not. And currently the price of Carbon per tonne has traded upwards of $30 per tonne. So therein lies your first $20 million in reflected value ....with potentially another $10 - $20 million coming if you use the 6 million vehicles.

So I guess the point to consider here is who are we mere mortal ' traders ' to question how , and or why the market values intangibles like IP , Patents, Trademarks ......or even ' Goodwill ' in the form of implied Marketing or future sales recognition of trading values on Carbon.

In any case , I reckon there is more to it than just simply waving their arms. It's way more strategic than that......wink.png

Here are some excerpts from the Climate Active program which supports these views :-

The Climate Active program and Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard supports and guides businesses as they account for and reduce carbon emissions. The Climate Active stamp helps the community take action by making it easier to identify and choose brands that are making a real difference. It’s about making good decisions today, for a more sustainable tomorrow.

    Support brands taking climate action

As a consumer you make thousands of decisions each year. Imagine if these decisions could help tackle climate change: your choices would benefit the environment and give you the power to make a difference. Climate Active certifies businesses and organisations that have proven that they are measuring, reducing and offsetting their emissions, with a net result of zero emissions. By supporting these organisations you are casting your vote for a better environment.

Our carbon neutral certification is one of the most rigorous in the world and has been recognised by the European Union Commission and the World Bank as a mature and effective model to help businesses and incentivise emission reductions.

    Offsets are more than carbon

Offset units are used to compensate for emissions a business produces and to bring their carbon footprint down to zero. Offset units are generated by projects that reduce, remove or capture emissions from the atmosphere such as reforestation, renewable energy or energy efficiency.

For example, a project may reduce emissions by changing the timing of savanna burning in Northern Australia or capture emissions by re-vegetating a large area of land. One carbon credit is issued for each tonne of emissions avoided, removed or captured from the atmosphere.

Many offset projects deliver social, cultural, economic or environmental benefits in addition to reducing emissions.

    • Environmental benefits include increased biodiversity, maintaining habitat for native animal and plant species, improved local air and water quality, avoiding vegetation clearance, re-establishing vegetation on previously cleared areas, and improved environmental management.
    • Social and cultural benefits are the positive aspects for communities where a project is based such as employment for local people, living and working on country, capacity building, improved health and education, and access to clean and affordable energy.
    • Economic benefits occur when income from the sale of offset credits flows to the community where a project is located and often translates into employment and community support, improved infrastructure, technology transfer, and increased economic activity.

Some of Australia’s leading organisations are certified Climate Active. This includes airlines, banks, councils, energy retailers, law firms, non-profit organisations, small and medium sized enterprises and universities.

Certified organisations form the Climate Active Network, a network of progressive climate leaders, working within their sectors to drive genuine change. Climate Active facilitates relationships among Climate Active Network members and provides the opportunity to attend information and networking events. These events provide avenues to develop business- to-business contacts across and within sectors and give participants the chance to share views and take leadership action on climate change.

Membership also offers the opportunity to influence and take part in the carbon neutral supply chain.
