If they were going to exercise the Renard option independently, they could have exercised it any point in the last four months since the Renard payments were restructured in early December 2024. The fact that they haven't pulled the trigger, and instead chose to cap raise at a huge discount and extend the option, is pretty clear evidence that they're not going to execute without a partner.
I absolutely agree that they could if they wanted to, but their actions (and words) make it clear that they got cold feet and won't do it independently. In the most recent announcement, CE was clear that securing a strategic partner is key in moving forward:
