I see your logic however disagree with the focus you have with respect to Australia.

BIG is focusing itself to be a global company with most growth to come from USA and with the Chairman's appointment and relationship with 4 Finance likely in Europe too. These are high population centres.

The need for strong governance can be met with a strong and well credentialed Company Secretary (which we now have as per recent announcement) and well functioning governance and risk committees at the Board level with appropriate outsourced expertise (mentioned in this announcement).

BIG is a tech company so I don't think we need or wanted an established ASX focused Chairman with a very Australian experience / network.

I'm happy with the choice, it gives me confidence that BIG has a global outlook and will continue to work closely with a finance component to how their product roles out. I would have been worried if they went too conservative.
