My understanding - which may be wrong - is LNG is the "champagne" of fuel. It's costs about 15% to chill and then $3 to $4 to ship. So to get LNG from the US to china is say $1.50 *1.15 + 4 = $5.7 per MBTU. japan imports for over $10 so quite the arbitrage for the LNG terminals being built in the US now.
