Just looks like there were dual roles due to the merger and they only needed one...? I don't think there's any conspiracy theory here, as it's probably just happened as part of the merger. Suppose there might be a few others over time that leave the business - makes good financial sense to reduce excess roles? I'm sure there's things in the background that at that level would make a resignation an attractive option.
