It's not a great example or explanation for how "exciting" the latest tech release is now is it? Plus I think the comparison with less developed countries is a gross generalisation.

Countries like China, India and other central Asian countries are just as up to date with, if not in front of, Australian technology - particularly with respect to internet.

Fwiw the only thing this latest announcement has going for it will be the fact the Chinese market is likely inundated with older motor vehicles who can benefit from the technology. The draw back is that the plug will probably be sold cheaply so volume will be needed for any substantial revenue to made here IMO and more importantly, the growing Middle Class will likely scoff at it in favour of....Bluetooth connection from smartphones.
