The share price of Stratasys, which has one of the largest market shares of desktop 3D printers, has remained static for the last 3 years. If sales of desktop 3D printers was going to jump by 1500% between 2016 and 2020, I would have expected some upward movement in their share price.
Stratasys has actually been moving away from desktop 3D printers. Why would they if the number of printers sold was going to jump 15x between 2016 and 2020?
I suspect the insane 1500% increase in unit sales forecast was a paid report by the industry itself and therefore should be taken with a grain of salt. It may have been conducted by an independent source, but when it's paid by the industry, the result is anything but independent.
