    If the bidders ignore the deadline they are not precluded from making another bid.

    Nothing really changes other than BBG may prevent further access to the DD data room.

    The share price might be spooked for a while as the market will infer (rightly or wrongly) that no bids are forthcoming.

    However the situation changes if bids are lodged. Most likely they will be conditional- once they go unconditional the bids cannot change other than by formal T/O withdrawal.
