It's more like investing in a lemonade stand after a kid tells you they have an untapped orchid of lemon trees. Later you find out it's one tree, half of which is in the shade. The kid convinces you that the shade is only there this summer and next summer it will be gone. During the winter the kid announces that the particular lemons only taste good mixed with a very particular type of sugar but the shade will definitely be gone by summer. Summer comes the kid say's nothing until March when they announce they have submitted plans to have part of the house next door removed to get rid of the shade. This carries on for the next few summers and you stay invested because as a human you have a bias against taking a loss. The kid sells most of the tree and signs off take agreements with other lemonade stand owners. Your initial investment is reduced to about 20% and by this time the kid is ready to start college.
