You are correct is countries where local connectivity to a AWS pop is reliable. However Indonesia and many parts of south America this is not the case
The closest Amazon POP to Jakarta is Singapore, further to this the AWS connectivity to Singapore is patchy and expensive for operators due to the international bandwidth costs.
Hence direct AWS options are required to reduce latency.
Direct connections costs will therefore overide AWS savings and/or benefits
Vubquity does no provide DRM to TV2U under their current model. Their content is provided as a single mezzanine format which must be transcoded and packaged in the multiple ABR profiles.
If TV2U plans to ingest and transcode a 4000 title library (5 SD and 5 HD) over 12 months (333 titles a month). Then the cost of transcoding will be $10,100 USD a month.
Further to this the CDN costs at around 10c a gig for data transfer and edge storage need to be factored in. However this does not include hand over to the distribution network to the consumers devices
Hence AWS will not be used in Indonesia
