Smart home i understand as a personal use app, Family use, the home.
Smart Building i understand to be controlled by the building manager, Hotels, apartment blocks, Large residential buildings. A lot more to monitor and control in these like Cooling, waste, Fire systems, elevators, security. All on a completely different scale to what a home would need and would potentially design a more "industrial" app if i had to guess.
