    Captains of the ship only start clambering for the jewels in the chest once they think there is a chance the boat could sink.
    We need them with their hands on the rudder, not down in the hold filling their pockets with diamonds.
    Their reward needs to come from the destination and the riches there, not the sea chest which has been filled by share holders.
