It was successful and a world first. Quite a bit of publicity about it.

They added propulsion to the Pearls all the same but it wasn't due to Diamond failures. There's no reason to doubt that the Pearls will use both drag and propulsion. For example, drag could again be successfully used, as with the diamonds, to maintain position within the constellation while propulsion used for rotational orientation.

There are far to many subtleties and unknowns regarding this technology for any useful speculation on this forum.
