Marcus may have left to protect his reputation if he felt that either things were not going to improve or potentially get even worse.
The new guy could well be sweating bullets thinking of that- Marcus himself being hired to help with getting finance etc but being unable to change the culture of the Board.
Is this the elephant’s graveyard or are the BOD as good at convincing potential employees to join as they at convincing the retail sector to buy in*?
*something the Board won’t do in a meaningful sense itself.
