wines are no longer transported in barrels to the bottling line !! that's ancient history...
in simpler steps wines from barrels are pumped into a tank for settling and adjusting then a truck with various capacity tanks arrives and the wine is pumped into the tanks. the truck travels to the bottling place and the wines are pumped out to the bottling line tanks to settle prior bottling.
smaller wineries can have their own bottling line too but the principle is the same.
the idea of emptying barrels into larger tanks eliminates barrels taste variation at bottling etc. no barrels taste the same.
wine drinkers expect each bottle of the same wine to taste the same this can't be achieved when bottling directly from individual barrels...
when talking about bulk wines all of it is from huge tanks not barrels...they have tank farms these days, also wines are transported in 40ftHC container filled with a huge bladder inside said container, cuts shipping cost, this is done with export wines to China to be bottled in china or any other country.
different levels in the wine markets.
Not for Wine Depot to deal in bulk wines, there is no clipping the dockets as per cases as they do now.
at present the business model is about delivering millions of cases of wines to business or private clients.
it seems extrapolations of what WD could or should do is getting out of hand with some HC posters,
let's keep it simple and steady with the current business model for now it working well already.
