My assessment - they will have to take this back to prototyping stage in a nano lab such as Stanford and develop a new basic "recipe" for the memory cells. The new recipe will have to be assessed to see if it meets the requirements for SCM before being sent off to IMEC (if IMEC want to take it on again)
Worst case - they can't make it happen - company is essentially worthless
Medium case - they can make it happen, IMEC takes it on again, but they have to go through all the process lots, non platform lots and platform lot iterations all over again. That's what, another 5 years?
Best case - the changes don't affect the process window and it is something that can be applied in addition to the etch. That's still another 2 years.
Meanwhile, any competitors in the space are advancing their NV technology.
So many unknowns - I think it's going to take a company restructure, share consolidation and more capital.
