I imagine the work on optimising all parts of it never stops… potentially some gains that have been made in research, while all this testing goes on, this may be a good time to slip those in.
it’s kinda how software is built, many branches with potential optimisation off the main trunk, and as branch is proved to be an optimisation, it will get rolled into the main branch.
