James, an excellent post. Arguably one of the best on I've seen posted on CE1. Thank you.
I ask myself two questions here....
1) why a suitor would now not just go hostile and stand in the market at a multiple of the current share price (they could low ball it at say 25c...not that I think that's its true market value)? They do not need a Board recommendation & I suspect they could at least get control (50.1%). Many shareholders would justifiably consider that price derisive but I suspect there's many that would fold.
2) now the company assets are in play & considering the Board know precisely where valuations have been pitched, will they buy stock on market? They have inside information that the market doesn't but they're unrestrained to buy with the disclosures they have made. Considering yesterdays trading, the market does not ascribe the likelihood of a deal. Insider buying I think would change that perception.
