It is important to understand that without exception these types of negotiations will be happening under strict confidentiality agreements until one offer finalises. We can only accept that the directors are not permitted to mislead, so all we can reasonably understand is that they indeed have a short list of suitors that they are negotiating with in an effort to get the best deal possible under difficult market conditions.To their advantage they do have a low cost of production high grade long life asset and for those reasons it is more attractive to investors than competing assets. Therefore there is no need to panic into an unattractive deal. Hence the confident rejection of the recent lowball offer.
Reading anything else into the announcement is purely emotive speculation.
