If an adenocarcinoma is diagnosed and has metastasised to other organs like the stomach or liver, additional time is pointless, whatever you have left to live is miserable and painful. Chemo is of no benefit and contributes to the agony. With pancreatic cancer, not many who are unfortunate to have this diagnosis are candidates for the Whipple surgery (a procedure which dates back to the 1950s). Again in my opinion OSL is making advancements, in that if a tumour can be reduced and subsequently resected with chemo as adjunctive, the likelihood of being alive 1 year after resection is 80% (I googled this). This to me is a remarkable advancement in medicine. Because of this, I think this technology is groundbreaking, as it may be the catalyst for how we treat other similar cancers in the future. Disease progression for Pancreatic cancer is grim and the number of people diagnosed is growing. Priority for progressive treatments are vital. OSL has the potential to make this disease treatable and curable, maybe not tomorrow but within five years.
