This is an unfortunate result, however I wonder if they drilled 50m or 100m in any other direction, the result would be different. Its been described as an anomaly.

I do not agree with the thesis that one bad hole likely means the field is unviable. This is only being floated as an idea because it so happens to be the first hole. One dot point does not a trend make. If it was the last hole drilled would you have a different emotional response?

I will not be having an opinion until I see the five holes drilled.

I am not going to wet the bed or throw any babies out with the bathwater. There are still 4 holes to come.
I do agree that 2 or 3 rigs going simultaneously may have been better for SP volatility here.
However my position is set, and volatility is not a concern for me, either up or down. At the end we will either own a cracker of a producing gas field, or we wont.

This is a high risk / high reward play. If you can't see yourself batting on after drilling the odd duster, then please consider BHP as a stock that may better match your risk profile.
