At this stage I am of the understanding they operate on a different channel which I think is designed for fast data but will not have the reliability and reach compared to a GPS satellite to ground. So yeah, you need a large fixed dish or a tower locally like Telstra pinging off to get anywhere. Even with the dish my Foxtel for example often drops out, so not sure how reliable it will be. You would not want to be dying and be unable to get reception!

Plus let's say StarLink can go to a phone eventually (which is a big if without a local tower) people may still opt for the Zoleo as it is durable and reliable, if you are in an accident phone screens crack and malfunction, and battery life is short etc.

If you look a the Iridium share price for example it seems to be holding up no worries, hence there will still be a market, demand and need for GPS products, as if not you would have thought it would have tanked by now.

Also noted there is cost to consider, peace of mind if it may not be 100% assured of reception. I raised this with MC and he was unsure it will work as well in strong weather, winds, snow, fire, smoke etc.
