I wonder how many retail shareholders were caught out by 1) the short period to take up the entitlement or 2) missed the message that was buried towards the bottom of a long legalistic email (see relevant section copied below).

In respect of the short period: my email was dated 15 Feb (a Thursday).  Monies paid by Bpay have to be initiated on Friday 23 Feb for the banks to deliver it by 5pm on Mon 26 Feb.  So I had 8 calendar days to take up my offer.  Luckily, I was not in the middle of the bush camping or overseas or in hospital during this period.  But other retail investors could have been out of contact for these 8 days.

For me, I did not read the long email and therefore did not see the instruction (copied below) that was buried towards the bottom of the email.  Luckily a friend told me that I would not get a personalized email with my entitlement and that I had to download the document.  Fortunately, I had this chat on Friday 23 Feb.  Now I am hoping my bank delivered the money before 5pm on the Monday.
(Also, I did not have the cash readily available on the Friday.  I had to temporarily borrow money from another entity)


I suspect the above two reasons are significant contributing factors to the low retail take up.
