I also have been considering a SMSF to avoid the limitations that are applied by Aus Super. I agree that the 20% limitation is likely fair enough to protect the retail investor, and the limit of only stocks in the ASX200 also. But I have made some good profits from non ASX200 companies (outside of Aus Super) and am reluctant to take the profit due to CGT.
I also plan to move to a SMSF and have the ability to use whatever trading platform I like and invest in stocks outside of the ASX200. By the way, the Aus Super trading platform is awful.
My super is in retirement phase so a SMSF with no CGT is the aim. Thanks @Anonymouse2 for the details of your setup.
