If that was to occur like you said it will. You would have sophisticated investors selling at a loss.
Does not quite happen like that. They wait for a news event to sell into "IF" they are not sticky holders.
If the news event is "remarkable" they could also question the short term strategy and hold long, if their liquidity situation allows it.
