Off topic, but I just want to say that I look forward to the day HotCopper requires legitimate identification for registration and removes the anonymity aspect from this place.
At the moment nothing stops competitor companies, banks, trolls and shorters acting as, or paying individuals, to setup fake accounts who push hate and disinformation in a bid to drive share prices down.
At the least, permitting completely anonymous posting stifles good honest discussion backed by reputation.
Obviously the same goes the other way; fake accounts are used to create hype and pump shares. This would also be reduced significantly.
It's definitely not specific to HIO; the same trolls are seen everywhere here, but it would definitely clean this place up a lot.
The sooner HotCopper gets its act together the better.
I am amazed the place is still running and hasn't been crushed by litigation, noting how much slander and false information is spruiked here on a daily basis. Nowhere else can you get away with personal slander (towards company director or otherwise) without providing supporting factual information to backup your words.
