Your assumption below is not right - its not up to the company to try forecast whether the information is 'so-so' - if they have poor, average, or great results from a new drilling campaign they're obligated to report them asap - whether this happens in reality where all results are reported equally and as promptly is dubious and is the question.
"However, where the market expectation is high as regards drilling and assay news, then would actual so-so news be considered price-sensitive so as to make the company release it pronto? In other words, would management be expected to read the positive market expectation into its interpretation of the continuous disclosure obligations and then deem so-so news to be price-sensitive? I have pondered this before. My answer is 'no' and 'no'."
