50% relief of chronic pain is a significant result.
It also has to be paired with the fact this is a non opioid drug. Opioid pain relief may "remove" more pain but the downsides and other net effects on the health system are huge. I would expect policy makers to balance not only the pain reduction but the potential requirement for less opioid based drugs to be used. So this is a tick for patients with relief and less downside, and for the medical system with a less net impact and non addictive drug.
