What they need to do is to dig 2 trenches in parallel in each location, one to 2.7m and one to 5.5m and test the flow in each. This will allow them to determine the flow rates in the lower half 2.7m to 5.5m which has lower specific yield. They should really do this in all locations imo as it will allow them to better optimise their trench network design.
