Interesting Panda. I'm of the belief that rather than trying to exact impossible science the key is to ensure abundantly ample brine supply and therefore lake surface area (i.e. employ multiple layers of conservatism). But I like your concept.
I've always thought brine ingresses more freely/quickly when the level in the trench is below the point of entry, and presumed that might be one of the reasons the AMN trenches go into the lower Sy horizon as well as to reach more competent sediment...
